John "Radio" Russell |
John Russell Ghrist has worked in radio for over forty years as an announcer, disc jockey, and news reporter. He has been employed at 15 Chicago and suburban stations and was a Chicago traffic reporter for WLS and WMAQ in the 1980's. He currently volunteers at WDCB, located on the campus of the College of DuPage. John also authored "Valley Voices," a history of Chicago radio. John hosts "Midwest Ballroom," and "Musical Memories," on WTPB-LP. His other volunteer duties at the station include reporting the news as well as hosting interview programs including "Respectful Care," "Center Spotlight," and "Everyday People." He also works in marketing at the Center for Sight & Hearing in Rockford and enjoys pitching for several softball teams. John is very happy to help out with the programming and community outreach of WTPB-LP. |
